Heart of Chelsea Veterinary Group in New York City is hiring a full-time Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and technicians, educate clients, and ensure smooth hospital operations.

Qualifications

• Previous veterinary hospital experience preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Knowledge of basic animal care and medical terminology.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and restrain animals safely.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare exam rooms and assist during appointments.
• Take client histories and record observations in the medical record.
• Educate clients on preventative care and follow-up.
• Communicate concerns to veterinarians and staff.
• Perform venipuncture and in-house lab tests; prepare forms.
• Provide nursing care and monitor hospitalized patients.
• Admit and discharge patients following protocols.
• Restock and clean exam and treatment areas.
• Utilize practice software for medication dispensing and records.
• Enforce OSHA regulations and hospital safety standards.
• Conduct client callbacks and updates.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
