Job summary

WellHaven Pet Health is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and technicians, ensuring high-quality care for pets while educating clients about wellness plans. The role emphasizes accurate charting, reception duties, and contributing to daily hospital efficiency.

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma, 6+ months in the veterinary field, and ideally completion of a NAVTA-approved assistant program. Onsite hospital work with potential for growth within the network.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 6+ months of experience in the veterinary industry.
• NAVTA-approved veterinary assistant program or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate proficiency in surgery, dentistry, laboratory procedures, venipuncture, proper restraint techniques, and sterile environment protocols.
• Support hospital day-to-day operations and assist in maintaining efficiency.
• Engage with team members and clients using excellent communication.
• Maintain accurate medical charting meeting quality standards.
• Educate clients about Wellness Plans and pet care.
• Take on select reception duties: phone calls, scheduling, and patient intake/discharge.
• Obtain medical history and patient information.
• Assist in managing hospital supplies and inventory.
• Complete hospital duties before end of shift and advocate for hospital success.
