Job summary

Brawley Animal Hospital in Mooresville, NC seeks an experienced Veterinary Assistant to support all hospital care aspects. You will assist during exams, diagnostics, and surgeries, manage patient records, and educate clients with a caring approach.

The position offers a full-time schedule (4x10), no on-call, and a benefits package including health, life, 401(k), and PTO. You will work in a team-focused practice with a strong commitment to compassionate patient care.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience as veterinary assistant, animal care, kennel assistant, or related role.
• Proficiency in safe animal handling and restraint for dogs and cats of varying sizes.
• Knowledge of veterinary terminology and patient care basics.
• Ability to assist with exams, treatments, and outpatient procedures.
• Experience collecting patient histories and obtaining weights and vital signs is preferred.
• Phlebotomy and SQ injections as directed.

Responsibilities

• Manage drop-off patients, tech appointments, nail trims, anal glands, and outpatient procedure support.
• Assist doctors and technicians during exams and diagnostics, including bloodwork and radiology.
• Provide safe, gentle patient handling and restraint during outpatient and procedural care, including surgery induction.
• Perform phlebotomy and SQ injections.
• Set up and support surgical cases, including patient prep and equipment readiness.
• Complete and manage drop-off paperwork and patient documentation accurately.
• Maintain accurate medical records and treatment documentation.
• Build positive client relationships through education and attentive service.
