Job summary

Brawley Animal Hospital in Mooresville, NC, is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to support clients and patients across all aspects of hospital care. You will join a team‑oriented practice with a broad clinical scope, handling exams, procedures, bloodwork, radiology, phlebotomy, and client education while contributing to a culture of care.

This full-time position operates on a 4x10 schedule, Monday–Friday with one set day off weekly and rotating Saturdays; no on-call requirements.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience in a veterinary assistant, animal care, kennel assistant, or related role is required
• Proficiency in safe animal handling and restraint for dogs and cats of varying sizes
• Knowledge of basic veterinary terminology and patient care principles
• Ability to assist with exams, treatments, and outpatient procedures
• Experience collecting patient histories and obtaining weights and vital signs preferred
• Phlebotomy and SQ injections
• Radiology positioning and safety protocols
• Laboratory sample collection and in-house diagnostic testing

Responsibilities

• Manage drop-off patients, tech appointments, nail trims, anal glands, and outpatient procedure support
• Assist doctors and technicians during exams and diagnostics, including running bloodwork and radiology
• Provide safe, gentle patient handling and restraint during outpatient and procedural care, including surgery induction
• Perform phlebotomy and SQ injections as directed by the veterinary team
• Set up and support surgical cases, including patient prep and equipment readiness
• Complete and manage drop-off paperwork and patient documentation accurately
• Maintain accurate medical records and treatment documentation
• Build positive client relationships through education, communication, and attentive service
• Maintain clean, organized exam rooms, treatment areas, and procedural spaces
