Job summary

Fairgrounds Animal Hospital in Reno, NV is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to support patient care, client service, surgery, and outpatient procedures. The role offers a full-time, 4/10 schedule and Monday–Friday availability.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years in a veterinary support role; bilingual Spanish/English is a plus. Compensation ranges from $20 to $24 per hour, with a benefits package including health, life, disability insurance, 401k match, paid time off, and a bonus

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience as a veterinary assistant, animal care, kennel assistant, or related role preferred.
• Proficiency in safe animal handling and restraint.
• Experience assisting with exams, treatments, and outpatient procedures.
• Ability to review treatment plans and discharge instructions with clients clearly.

Responsibilities

• Support efficient exam room, outpatient, and surgical workflows.
• Provide safe, gentle patient handling and restraint during care.
• Prepare patients, equipment, and treatment areas for appointments and procedures.
• Maintain accurate medical records and treatment documentation.
• Review treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions with clients clearly.
• Build positive client relationships through education and attentive service.
• Maintain clean and organized exam rooms and spaces.
