Fairgrounds Animal Hospital in Reno, NV is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to support patient care, client service, surgery, and outpatient procedures. The role offers a full-time, 4/10 schedule and Monday–Friday availability.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years in a veterinary support role; bilingual Spanish/English is a plus. Compensation ranges from $20 to $24 per hour, with a benefits package including health, life, disability insurance, 401k match, paid time off, and a bonus

Job description

Fairgrounds Animal Hospital is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our team and support exceptional experiences for our clients and patients across all aspects of hospital care.

In this position, you will take an active role in:
  • Supporting efficient exam room, outpatient, and surgical workflows
  • Providing safe, gentle patient handling and restraint during outpatient and procedural care
  • Preparing patients, equipment, and treatment areas for appointments and procedures
  • Maintaining accurate medical records and treatment documentation
  • Reviewing treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions with clients clearly and compassionately
  • Building positive client relationships through education, communication, and attentive service
  • Maintaining clean, organized, and fully prepared exam rooms, treatment areas, and procedural spaces
Schedule and compensation:
  • Compensation: $20 - $24 per hour, for each hour worked
  • This is a full-time position with a4/10 schedule and availability needed Monday through Friday.

Minimum qualifications and skill set:
  • 2+years of experience in a veterinary assistant, animal care, kennel assistant, or related role preferred
  • Bilingual Spanish/English skills are a plus and would be valued in this role.
  • Proficiency in the following skills:
    • Safe animal handling and restraint skills for dogs and cats of varying sizes and temperaments
    • Knowledge of basic veterinary terminology and patient care principles
    • Ability to assist with exams, treatments, and outpatient procedures
    • Experience collecting patient histories and obtaining patient weights and vital signs preferred
    • Ability to maintain accurate medical records and treatment documentation
    • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established protocols
    • Dependable attendance and strong work ethic
    • Physical ability to stand, bend, lift, and restrain patients safely throughout the workday

Pay Range
