Job summary

Locust Valley Veterinary Clinic is hiring a Veterinary Assistant to join our dynamic team in Locust Valley, NY. You will greet clients, manage appointments, and ensure smooth communication between the veterinary team and pet owners.

You will be trained to assist in the safe restraint of cats and dogs during examinations and procedures, ensuring their comfort and safety while maintaining a positive atmosphere for staff and clients alike.

Qualifications

• High school diploma
• Weekend availability as needed
• Must be able to lift 30-50 pounds

Responsibilities

• Provide friendly, quality customer care to patients and clients
• Process invoices payments
• Answer phones, schedule appointments, and obtain all necessary medical history
• Determine the status of the patient's immunizations and tests
• Communicate with the doctor and technical staff on the patient's arrival and necessary treatments
• Fill prescriptions, food requests, and over-the-counter products as instructed by a veterinarian
• Accurately input data into computer software
