Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital seeks a knowledgeable Veterinary Assistant to support emergency cases, triage patients, and assist veterinarians with care plans and diagnostics. You will handle nursing duties, client communication, and patient transitions between ICU or inpatient wards with a focus on safety and compassion.

Responsibilities include administering medications, performing exams, monitoring heart rate and respiration, and staying current with CPR guidelines.

Qualifications

• Provide nursing care to patients according to hospital standards of care.
• Triage emergency cases and assist DVM with estimations as needed.
• Perform diagnostics such as radiographs and lab work.
• Maintain patient care in ICU or inpatient wards and communicate with clients.

Our Veterinary Assistants triage emergency cases as they come in andassistDVMwith crafting and goingoverestimatesas needed. In addition, they perform diagnostics (radiographs,labwork,etc), setting patients up inICUor Inpatient ward, discharging patients, andhandleclient communication.

As a Veterinary Assistant, you will:

• Provide nursing care to patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.
• Report patient signalment, problem list and plan during nursing rounds.
• Understand classification ofcommonly usedmedications, associated sideeffectsand appropriately monitors therapeutic response.
• Administer medications viaappropriate routesand duration.
• Perform physicalexam; accurately countsheart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratoryrateand effort.
• Possess a working knowledge of anesthesia/monitoring equipment andassistwith patients assigned ASA I or II classifications.
• Remain current on R.E.C.O.V.E.R CPR guidelines anddemonstratesproficiencyin designatedroleas assigned by attending clinician and/or supervisor.
