BluePearl Pet Hospital in Grand Rapids, MI is seeking an Emergency Veterinary Assistant to join a fast-paced department. You will triage cases, assist the DVM with plans, perform diagnostics, and help care for ICU/inpatient patients while communicating with clients.

This role emphasizes nursing care, medication administration, phlebotomy, anesthesia support, and teamwork in a compassionate, high-stakes environment. Opportunities for growth and ongoing education are available.

• Perform physical exam; accurately counts heart rate, pulse, capillary refill, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort.
• Assist with anesthesia/monitoring for ASA I or II patients.
• Follow R.E.C.O.V.E.R CPR guidelines and perform assigned duties.

BluePearl Pet Hospital is seeking a knowledgeable and skilled Veterinary Assistant to join their fast-paced emergency department.

Our Veterinary Assistants triage emergency cases as they come in and assist DVM with crafting and going overestimates as needed. In addition, they perform diagnostics (radiographs, labwork , etc ), setting patients up in ICU or Inpatient ward, discharging patients, and handling client communication.

As an Emergency Veterinary Assistant , you will:

• Provide nursing care to patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.

• Report patient signalment, problem list and plan during nursing rounds.

• Understand classification of commonly used medications, associated side effects and appropriately monitors therapeutic response.

• Administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.

• Perform phlebotomy.

• Perform physical exam; accurately counts heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort.

• Possess a working knowledge of anesthesia/monitoring equipment and assist with patients assigned ASA I or II classifications.

• Remain current on R.E.C.O.V.E.R CPR guidelines and demonstrates proficiency in designated role as assigned by attending clinician and/or supervisor.
