Job summary

VCA Palm Beach Veterinary Specialists is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our 24-hour Emergency & Critical Care service. The role offers a full-time schedule with four 10-hour shifts and compensation ranging from $18 to $22 per hour based on skill and experience.

Our West Palm Beach facility operates 24/7/365, featuring in-house labs, MRI, CT, and a collaborative team of surgeons, internists, and emergency clinicians.

Qualifications

• Experience in emergency or specialty medicine is preferred.
• Flexibility to work weekends and holidays is expected.
• Minimum requirement is several years in general practice or relevant setting.

Responsibilities

• Compassionate patient care across all shifts.
• Perform patient assessment and triage upon admission.
• Educate clients about care plans and procedures.
• Assist in hospitalization/ICU care and monitoring.
• Induce and monitor anesthesia during procedures.
• Prepare for surgery and assist the surgeon.
• Operate radiology equipment and assist imaging.
• Collect lab samples and perform basic diagnostics.
• Perform venipuncture and catheterization as needed.
• Manage pharmacy workflow and medication records.

VCA Palm Beach Veterinary Specialists is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our 24-hour Emergency & Critical Care service..

Schedule : Full time. (4) 10 hour shifts.

Compensation: $18 - $22 / hr is based on skill set, and experience.

About Us

VCA Palm Beach Veterinary Specialists was established in West Palm Beach in 1998 and has flourished from a single-specialty practice into a full-service, multi-disciplinary, specialty-only practice.

We reside within a 32,000 sq. ft. facility, operating 24/7/365, which includes an in-house national reference laboratory, blood bank, and Education Center with a 125-seat auditorium, conference room and meeting hall used to provide continuing education programs. Our Advanced Imaging department offers on-site MRI, CT, C-Arm and Linear Accelerator (Halcyon).

Our staff of specialists includes three Surgeons, a Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner, three Internists, an Emergency and Critical Care Service, Neurosurgeon, and Radiation Oncologist. Our doctors work closely with our nurses and technical staff to provide optimal patient care, careful client service and open dialogue with referring veterinarians.

We are a very integrated practice that uses a team approach to case consultation and management. You will enjoy a diverse and stimulating caseload while employing the most advanced imaging and monitoring tools.

About the Role

As an experienced Veterinary Assistant, we want you to use your skills and knowledge to the fullest. Skills that you will be utilizing include, but are not limited to:

• Compassionate patient care
• Patient assessment and triage
• Client education and care
• Hospitalization/ICU care
• Anesthesia induction and monitoring
• Surgical preparation and assisting
• Radiology
• Laboratory sample collection and diagnostic testing
• Venipuncture, catheterization
• Pharmacy
• Medical record keeping

We are seeking veterinary technicians with experience in emergency or specialty medicine, or several years of experience in general practice. Flexible schedule will include some weekends and holidays. Pay is competitive, based on level of skill, experience, relevant education and credentials.
