Job summary

Banfield Pet Hospital in Pensacola, FL is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and technicians in delivering high-quality care to pets. You will educate clients, maintain medical records, and help create a calm hospital environment.

You will assist with exams and surgeries as needed, ensure safety and cleanliness, and mentor junior staff while upholding Banfield's standards and core principles.

Qualifications

• Certificate of completion from a NAVTA approved Veterinary Assistant program.
• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years old to perform radiography tasks.
• One year related experience with customer service preferred.
• NAVTA approved veterinary assistant program knowledge and skills.

Responsibilities

• Support veterinarians and technicians to ensure quality pet care.
• Communicate with staff to maintain patient flow and care.
• Provide service and prep work for procedures, ensure client and pet comfort.
• Educate clients about wellness plans, preventive care, and hospital services.
• Obtain patient history and maintain complete medical charts.
• Ensure safety and sanitation in treatment areas and labs.
• Assist with surgery as applicable.
• Mentor paraprofessionals in the hospital.
