Job summary

BluePearl Specialty + Emergency Pet Hospital in Monterey, CA seeks a knowledgeable Veterinary Assistant to triage emergencies, assist DVMs, and support patient care. The role includes nursing care, diagnostics, ICU assignments, client communication, and discharge procedures.

You will work in a fast-paced setting with a team that values continuous learning, comprehensive pet care, and strong collaboration. Pay ranges $22–$27 per hour, commensurate with experience and competency level.

Qualifications

• Provide nursing care to patients according to hospital standards.
• Report patient signalment, problem list and plan during rounds.
• Understand medications and monitor therapeutic response.
• Administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Perform physical exams and monitor vital signs.
• Have working knowledge of anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Remain current on RECOVER CPR guidelines and applicable roles.

Responsibilities

• Possess a working knowledge of anesthesia/monitoring equipment and assist with patients assigned ASA I or II classifications.
• Remain current on R.E.C.O.V.E.R CPR guidelines and demonstrates proficiency in designated role as assigned by attending clinician and/or supervisor.

BluePearl Specialty + Emergency Pet Hospital is seeking a knowledgeable and skilled Veterinary Assistant in Monterey, CA!

Pay: $22 - $27 / hour

Pay is dependent on experience and leveling through our competency system.

Our Veterinary Assistants triage emergency cases as they come in and assist DVM with crafting and going overestimates as needed. In addition, they perform diagnostics (radiographs, labwork, etc), setting patients up in ICU or Inpatient ward, discharging patients, and handle client communication.

As a Veterinary Assistant, You Will
