Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital is seeking a knowledgeable Veterinary Assistant to work across our Specialty Departments and support DVMs with patient care and diagnostics.

You will triage emergencies, assist with radiographs, lab work, ICU/ward care, and client communication while maintaining our high standards of compassion and teamwork. This role offers comprehensive benefits and opportunities for growth within Mars Veterinary Health.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.
• Report patient signalment, problem list and plan during nursing rounds.
• Understand classifications of medications, side effects and monitor response.
• Administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Perform physical exams: vitals, mucous membranes, temperature, and respiratory status.
• Knowledge of anesthesia/monitoring equipment; assist ASA I/II patients.
• Stay current on R.E.C.O.V.E.R CPR guidelines and roles per supervisor.

BluePearl Pet Hospital is seeking a knowledgeable and skilled Veterinary Assistant to work across our Specialty Departments!

Our Veterinary Assistants triage emergency cases as they come in and assist DVM with crafting and going overestimates as needed. In addition, they perform diagnostics (radiographs, labwork, etc), setting patients up in ICU or Inpatient ward, discharging patients, and handle client communication.

As a Veterinary Assistant, you will:

• Provide nursing care to patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.
• Report patient signalment, problem list and plan during nursing rounds.
• Understand classification of commonly used medications, associated side effects and appropriately monitors therapeutic response.
• Administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Perform physical exam; accurately counts heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort.
• Possess a working knowledge of anesthesia/monitoring equipment and assist with patients assigned ASA I or II classifications.
• Remain current on R.E.C.O.V.E.R CPR guidelines and demonstrates proficiency in designated role as assigned by attending clinician and/or supervisor.
