Job summary

WellHaven Pet Health is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and technicians, educate clients, and maintain high standards of care. The role emphasizes surgery, dentistry, lab work, and proper restraint within a fast-paced hospital environment.

Responsibilities include reception duties, charting, Wellness Plan education, inventory management, and collaboration with the team to ensure excellent patient care. On-site work with a patient-centered culture is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required or expected.
• NAVTA-approved veterinary assistant program or equivalent preferred.
• 6+ months of experience in the veterinary industry.
• Ability to work onsite; fast-paced environment.
• Ability to lift 50+ pounds.

Responsibilities

• Support veterinarians and technicians in surgery, dentistry, and procedures while maintaining sterile conditions.
• Help manage hospital operations and patient flow to ensure efficiency.
• Educate clients about Wellness Plans and pet care guidance.
• Perform reception duties: answer calls, schedule appointments, intake and discharge.
• Obtain medical history and patient information for records.
• Assist with inventory management and restocking.
• Complete assigned duties before shift end and advocate for hospital success.
• Provide exceptional customer service and effective communication with team and clients.
