Job summary

Broad Street Veterinary Hospital in Richmond, VA is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to join our team. You will support veterinarians and technicians in daily tasks, including care, restraint, basic lab work, and client communication.

Ideal candidates have at least 2 years of experience in veterinary settings, are at least 18 years old, and hold a high school diploma or equivalent. This full-time position offers a stable schedule and competitive pay.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 18.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience with appointments, surgery, dentistry, vaccine administration, basic blood draws, and low-stress animal handling.
• Currently enrolled in an LVT program is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate care to all patients.
• Greet patients and owners upon arrival and record vital signs.
• Triage patients, perform physical exams, and administer medication as directed by licensed veterinary technicians.
• Calm and soothe anxious patients.
• Assist doctors and technicians with medication administration and patient restraint.
• Perform laboratory tests and take radiographs.
• Operate and maintain hospital equipment and ensure safety and cleanliness.
