Job summary

Petco is hiring a Veterinary Assistant to support Vetco Total Care in delivering high-quality medical care and exceptional customer service. You will assist doctors, manage EMRs, and help educate clients while ensuring patient safety and comfort.

Candidates should have at least 1 year of veterinary experience, strong communication skills, and a team-oriented mindset to support a fast-paced hospital environment and ongoing staff training.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of veterinary practice experience preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Compassionate, professional demeanor in stressful situations.
• Telephone and computer skills.
• Team player willing to learn new techniques.

Responsibilities

• Greet clients and patients, escort to exam room, record vitals and EMR.
• Assist doctors with routine and emergency appointments, surgeries, dentistry, euthanasia.
• Restrain patients, process lab samples, dispense medications as directed.
• Schedule appointments, educate clients, relay test results, maintain records.
• Prepare patients for procedures and assist during anesthesia and recovery.
• In-hospital treatments including meds and IV fluids; keep patients fed and clean.
• Assist training of new staff and maintain a clean hospital environment.
• Provide backup front desk support as needed.
