Job summary

Banfield Pet Hospital is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and technicians in delivering high-quality care for pets. The role involves educating clients, maintaining medical records, ensuring safety, and assisting with surgical procedures as allowed by state practice acts.

Candidates should have NAVTA-aligned training or experience, strong communication, and the ability to multitask in a busy hospital environment.

Qualifications

• 2 years experience working with animals.
• Must be able to perform NAVTA approved veterinary assistant programs at a level to aid in efficiency.
• One year related experience preferred with customer service.

Responsibilities

• Live and exemplify the Five Principles of Mars, Inc. within self and team.
• Assist the veterinarian and veterinary technicians to maximize productivity and ensure best quality pet care.
• Provide professional, efficient service; prepare procedures and monitor hospitalized or surgical pets as allowed by state acts.
• Educate clients about wellness plans, preventive care, and hospital services.
• Obtain patient history from clients and maintain complete medical charts.
• Ensure safety by using proper restraint techniques and maintaining clean treatment areas.
• Assist with surgery as applicable and utilize NAVTA guidelines for assistant skills.
• Mentor other paraprofessionals in the hospital.
