Star Valley Veterinary Clinic in Dayton, OH is seeking an energetic Veterinary Assistant to support the care team. You will assist with patient care, collect client histories, monitor hospitalized pets, restrain animals during exams, and help with diagnostics and medications under supervision.

This role requires a positive attitude, reliability, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced veterinary environment. Prior animal-care experience is a plus but not required.

Qualifications

• Must be 18yrs old or older.
• Must be a self-starter, able to multitask and a team player.
• Genuinely enjoys working with animals and is able to deal with them even when they are stressed, ill or in pain.
• 1+ years of experience, but not required.
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the job. Lift up to 40 lbs and stand/walk for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient care and treatment.
• Collect history from client about their pet.
• Monitor hospitalized pets and aid in post-surgery care.
• Maintain inventory and stocking.
• Restrain animals during exams, blood draws, and nail trims.
• Aid with routine diagnostic tests (x-rays, bloodwork, fecal).
• Sterilize surgical instruments and equipment.
• Clean and disinfect cages, kennels, and treatment areas.
• Administer medications under supervision.
• Fill medications the doctor prescribes.
• Help clients with their pets.
