Veterinary Assistant

We are looking for a Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and veterinary technicians at Banfield Pet Hospital, ensuring safety for pets, clients, and associates while maintaining continuity of quality veterinary care.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians and vet techs with patient care, including monitoring patients, preparing instruments, and maintaining a clean environment.
• Help maintain patient flow and communicate effectively with veterinary staff and clients.
• Carry out or set up procedures that do not require veterinarian or vet tech assistance, in accordance with state practice acts and NAVTA guidelines.
• Adhere to hospital standards to keep pets safe, treatment areas, exam rooms and labs clean and organized.
• Educate clients about preventive care and our Optimum Wellness Plans.
• Mentor and support other members of the hospital team.

Qualifications

• Certificate of completion from a NAVTA‑approved veterinary assistant program or equivalent education, training, and experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to perform NAVTA‑approved veterinary assistant duties at a level that aids practice efficiency.
• Action‑oriented, customer‑focused, good listener, effective communicator, and caring for those who care.

Compensation

Pay range: $15.99 – $20.44 per hour, based on experience, skill level, and education; may vary by location or applicable minimum wage laws.
