Job summary

Laurel Pet Hospital in West Hollywood is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to support client and patient care across exams, treatments, surgery, dentistry, and outpatient procedures.

In this full-time role, you will help maintain workflows, assist veterinarians, handle patient restraint, and keep accurate medical records. The position offers a 4/10 schedule, rotating weekends, and a pay range of $26–$29 per hour, plus health, life and disability insurance, a 401(k) match, and PTO.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years veterinary assistant experience
  • Experience collecting patient histories and obtaining patient weights and vital signs preferred
  • Ability to maintain accurate medical records and treatment documentation
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established protocols
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Teamwork and dependable attendance

Responsibilities

  • Support exam room, outpatient, surgical, and dental workflows
  • Assist veterinarians during exams, treatments, surgical procedures, and dentistry
  • Provide safe patient handling and restraint during outpatient and procedural care
  • Prepare patients, equipment, and treatment areas for appointments and procedures
  • Monitor anesthesia and support patient recovery as directed by the team
  • Perform dental prophylaxis and dental radiography
  • Maintain accurate medical records and treatment documentation
  • Review treatment plans and discharge instructions with clients clearly and compassionately
  • Build positive client relationships through education and service
  • Keep exam rooms and treatment spaces clean and organized

Laurel Pet Hospital is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our team and support exceptional experiences for our clients and patients across all aspects of hospital care.

This is an excellent opportunity for a versatile assistant who enjoys variety in their day and wants to continue utilizing and developing a well-rounded skillset across patient care, client service, surgery, dentistry, and outpatient procedures. We are seeking dependable, motivated candidates who thrive in a fast-paced environment, multitask efficiently, anticipate team needs, communicate professionally, and take pride in delivering exceptional support throughout every stage of the patient visit.

In this position, you will take an active role in:

  • Supporting efficient exam room, outpatient, surgical, and dental workflows
  • Assisting veterinarians during exams, treatments, surgical procedures, and dentistry
  • Providing safe, gentle patient handling and restraint during outpatient and procedural care
  • Preparing patients, equipment, and treatment areas for appointments and procedures
  • Monitoring anesthesia and supporting patient recovery as directed by the veterinary team
  • Performing dental prophylaxis and dental radiography
  • Maintaining accurate medical records and treatment documentation
  • Reviewing treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions with clients clearly and compassionately
  • Building positive client relationships through education, communication, and attentive service
  • Maintaining clean, organized, and fully prepared exam rooms, treatment areas, and procedural spaces

Schedule and compensation:

  • Compensation: $ 26 - 29 per hour, for each hour worked
  • This is a full-time position, with a 4/10 schedule and availability needed Monday-Sunday . Rotating weekend are required.

Minimum qualifications and skill set:

  • 3+ years of experience in a veterinary assistant Required
  • Proficiency in the following skills:
    • Experience collecting patient histories and obtaining patient weights and vital signs preferred
    • Ability to maintain accurate medical records and treatment documentation
    • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established protocols
    • Ability to prioritize tasks and multitask in a fast-paced environment
    • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
    • Dependable attendance and strong work ethic
    • Physical ability to stand, bend, lift, and restrain patients safely throughout the workday
    • Commitment to exceptional patient care and client service
