Job summary

Lake City Animal Health & Wellness Center in Warsaw, Indiana seeks a Registered Veterinary Technician to support high-quality veterinary care. The role involves restraint, triage, lab work, imaging, and nursing care for diverse cases, with emphasis on safe animal handling and client communication.

The ideal candidate will hold an IN RVT license; 2+ years of experience is preferred but not required. The position offers opportunities for hands-on training and professional growth in a busy practice.

Qualifications

  • IN license required; 2+ years of professional experience preferred but not required.
  • Excellent client communication and medical record management skills.
  • Ability to withstand odors/noises and handle animals safely.
  • Experience in anesthesia administration and surgical monitoring is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Pet restraint and triage incoming patients.
  • Collection and analysis of lab samples; diagnostic imaging.
  • Nursing care for medical and hospitalized cases; medication administration.
  • Communication of treatment plans with clients; surgical prep and assistance.
  • Anesthetic management during procedures.

Lake City Animal Health and Wellness Center is a full-service community animal hospital. Our goal is to provide high quality veterinary service in a personable and accommodating manner by consistently focusing on accurate diagnostics, effective communication, compassionate treatment of animals, and client education.

Lake City Animal Health & Wellness Center offers many veterinary services including Wellness exams, Surgery, Onsite Laboratory, Radiology, Dermatology, Intensive Care, Vaccinations, Microchipping, Behavioral Counseling, Nutritional Counseling, Internal Medicine, Dentistry, Pain Management, and much more!

Warsaw is about 2 hours southeast of Chicago, IL in the northeast section of Indiana. Whether you’re into history, outdoor lakes and beach adventures, dining or culture, Warsaw has something for everyone. Higher educational opportunities are available at the University of Notre Dame, Indiana University-South Bend and Indiana Wesleyan University. The downtown area is also very busy with an award winning craft brewery and multiple restaurants!

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

Pet restraint, triage incoming patients, collection and analysis of lab samples, diagnostic imaging, management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability, administration of medications, effective communication of treatment plans with clients, surgical preparation and assistance, and anesthetic management.

Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises. May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste and potentially contagious diseases.

Qualifications

We’re Looking For:

  • A Registered Veterinary Technician with an active license in IN required,2+ year professional experience preferred but not required.
  • Consistent punctuality and reliability in adherence to scheduled shifts.
  • Availability to work some Saturday morning shifts.
  • Excellent client communication and medical record management skills.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of veterinary procedures, preventative care, and hospital operations.
  • Expertise in safe and low-stress animal restraint techniques.
  • Previous professional experience in anesthesia administration and surgical monitoring.
  • Proficiency in various sample collection methods, including blood, urine, fecal, and skin specimens.
  • Experience in radiographic positioning and image capture, with additional skills in dental radiography being a plus.
  • Commitment to professional ethics and continuous learning.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with exposure to animal-related hazards.
