Job summary

Heart + Paw in Warren, RI is seeking a Veterinary Assistant who loves pets and people. You will assist veterinarians and technicians during exams and procedures, monitor safety, and help prepare rooms.

You will educate owners on preventive care, handle radiographs and dental support under supervision, and contribute to a low-stress, client-focused clinic environment. Experience is valued; certifications like Fear Free are a plus.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years in a clinical veterinary setting preferred.
• Exceptional client communication and teamwork.
• Physical ability to lift 20+ lbs and handle demanding situations.
• Willingness to obtain Fear Free or HABRI certification.

Responsibilities

• Assisting veterinarians and technicians during exams and procedures.
• Monitor and care for pets, ensuring comfort and safety.
• Collect samples and perform diagnostics under supervision.
• Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as prescribed.
• Record patient medical history and inventory logs.
• Prepare rooms for appointments and surgeries.
• Educate pet parents on preventive care, nutrition, and behavior.
• Support low-stress handling during all interactions.
• Assist with radiographs, dental procedures, and anesthesia monitoring.
• Maintain a clean, disease-free environment.
• Promote center services including grooming, daycare, and boarding.

The pay range reflects the anticipated base pay for this position and is determined based on experience, skill set, location and other factors.

Pay Range

$19 - $22 USD
