Job summary

Banfield Pet Hospital in Ohio is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and technicians, ensuring safe, quality care for pets and peace of mind for clients.

You will help manage patient flow, communicate with the medical team, and assist with procedures that do not require direct veterinary or technician involvement. Education on wellness plans and preventive care is expected.

Qualifications

  • Certificate from NAVTA-approved veterinary assistant program or equivalent experience.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Job Description Summary

The Veterinary Assistant is a key member of the hospital team who supports and assists the veterinarians and veterinary technicians, ensuring the safety of pets, clients and other associates, and the continuity of quality veterinary care.

Responsibilities
  • Help maintain the flow of patients
  • Communicate with the veterinarian and vet techs
  • Carry out or set up procedures that do not require veterinarian or vet tech assistance
  • Adhere to hospital standards that keep pets safe, and keep the treatment areas, exam rooms and labs clean and organized
  • Educate clients about Optimum Wellness Plans® and the importance of preventive care
  • Mentor other members of the hospital team
  • Provide professional, efficient and exceptional service at all times, ensuring clients and pets are comfortable
Preferred Education / Licenses

Certificate of completion from a NAVTA‑approved veterinary assistant program or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Preferred Experience

Must be able to perform all required skills of NAVTA‑approved veterinary assistant programs at a level that aids in the efficiency of the practice.

Pay Range

$15.99 - $20.44 per hour. The specific rate is determined based on the candidate’s experience, skill level, and education, and may vary depending on location or applicable minimum wage laws.
