Job summary

Stonyridge Veterinary Service in Troy, OH, is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to join Thrive Pet Healthcare partner team. This full-time role runs Monday through Friday with 4–10 hour shifts, no weekends, and requires lifting up to 40 pounds.

You will support veterinarians, educate clients, and maintain accurate medical records in a fast-paced practice. We value compassion, reliable teamwork, and strong communication.

Qualifications

  • At least one year of recent experience in a veterinary practice environment.

Responsibilities

We are looking for a Veterinary Assistant to complete our team!

Role Responsibilities:
  • Support veterinarians to ensure quality veterinary care, advocate for pets, and educate clients.
  • With each hospital function, assist veterinarians and the medical team to maximize productivity and maintain positive patient flow.
  • Assist in maintaining relevant, comprehensive medical records with the support of practice systems.
  • Obtain relevant health history and information from clients and maintain medical charts.
  • Use safe restraining techniques, follow standard protocols, and sustain clean, sterile, organized treatment areas, exam rooms, and labs.
Experience & Skills Requirements:
  • At least one year of recent experience in a veterinary practice environment, with increasing responsibilities is REQUIRED.
  • Demonstrated ability to show empathy toward clients and treat animals with respect and compassion.
  • Ability to properly restrain patients.
  • Demonstrated ability to accurately manage and record detailed information in medical records and other data management systems.
  • Knowledge of spelling and meaning of commonly used veterinary medical terminology and procedures.
  • Ability to complete assigned tasks in the time allotted without direct supervision.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • A commitment to outstanding client service.
  • Ability to lift objects weighing 40 pounds without assistance and objects weighing more than 40 pounds with assistance.
  • Ability to stay on task and work energetically for an entire shift, sometimes exceeding 10 hours per day.
