Job summary

VCA Saukville Animal Hospital is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our compassionate team. You will assist doctors and technicians, handle patients with low-stress techniques, and help maintain a clean, organized hospital environment.

The ideal candidate has prior veterinary hospital experience, strong animal handling skills, and excellent communication and organization. This is a full-time, on-site position with four 10-hour shifts per week, including rotating Saturdays,

• Previous experience in a veterinary hospital is strongly preferred.
• Excellent animal handling and restraint skills.
• Familiarity with veterinary terminology, medical procedures, and hospital workflows.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
• Ability to multitask and stay calm in a busy clinical environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians and technicians with patient care, examinations, treatments, and procedures.
• Safely handle and restrain patients using low-stress techniques.
• Prepare surgical patients, equipment, and the surgical suite.
• Collect and process laboratory samples and assist with imaging.
• Prepare and fill prescriptions under supervision.
• Maintain accurate medical records.
• Monitor hospitalized patients and provide compassionate care.
• Keep the hospital clean, organized, and stocked.
• Communicate effectively with team members and clients.

What You'll Do

• Assisting veterinarians and veterinary technicians with patient care, examinations, treatments, and procedures.

• Preparing and filling prescriptions under veterinary supervision.
