Job summary

Shawnee Animal Clinic is a growing, family-oriented veterinary practice seeking a motivated Veterinary Assistant. You will assist with patient care, lab work, imaging, anesthesia monitoring, and communicating treatment plans to clients.

Our team is dynamic, supportive, and focused on ongoing professional development. Applicants should have at least 1 year of experience, be a team player, and be able to multitask in a fast-paced hospital environment.

Qualifications

• 1+ year veterinary assistant experience preferred.
• Compassionate, calm, team player and strong communicator.
• Ability to properly restrain pets.
• Experience with sample collection, medical histories, lab tests and radiographs is a bonus.
• Willingness to continue learning and development.

Responsibilities

• Assist in pet restraint, triage, and lab sample analysis.
• Support diagnostic imaging and anesthesia monitoring.
• Provide nursing care to medical and hospitalized patients.
• Communicate treatment plans clearly with clients.
• Prepare for surgery and assist as needed.

Shawnee Animal Clinic is a growing, family-oriented practice with wonderful clients. We currently have eight doctors of veterinary medicine and over sixty support staff between our hospital, grooming facility, and boarding and training facility. Our team is like our family, and we are looking for individuals who are self-starters, have a willingness to learn, and can multi-task in a fast-paced veterinary hospital.

Job Description

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

Pet restraint, triage incoming patients, collection and analysis of lab samples, diagnostic imaging, management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability, administration of medications, effective communication of treatment plans with clients, surgical preparation and assistance, and anesthetic management.

Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises. May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste and potentially contagious diseases.

Qualifications

• An experienced Veterinary Assistantwith a minimum of 1-year experience preferred.

• Must be able to properly restrain pets.
• Proficient in sample collection, obtaining medical histories, processing laboratory tests and radiographs, andanesthesia monitoring are a bonus!
• Self-starter with the desire to continue to advance your knowledge and skillset.

Additional Information

Pay Range:$14.00-$15.00per hour
