Job summary

Fryeburg Veterinary Hospital in Fryeburg, ME seeks a dedicated Veterinary Assistant to join our AAHA-accredited, six-doctor team. We offer mentorship, a diverse caseload, and growth opportunities within a supportive culture.

Location: Fryeburg, ME. Compensation: $18–$24/hour based on experience. Schedule: Four 10-hour shifts weekly; rotating Saturdays required.

Qualifications

  • Experience collecting history, reviewing core vs. lifestyle vaccines, and discussing preventatives with clients.
  • Proficiency with restraint and handling of pets of various sizes.
  • Experience with blood draws and vaccine administration is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Essential Patient Care: assist the medical team with hands-on care and compassionate animal handling.
  • Be the Go-To Support for the Medical Team: anticipate needs to ensure smooth workflow.
  • Create a Positive Client Experience: assist with scheduling, payments, and communications.
  • Ensure a Safe and Clean Environment: maintain hospital and equipment to high standards.

Fryeburg Animal Hospital Is Hiring a Full‑Time Veterinary Assistant!

Location: 203 Bridgton Road, Fryeburg, ME 04037
Compensation:$18–$24/hour, based on experience
Schedule: Four 10‑hour shifts per week; variable schedule. Rotating Saturdays are a MUST.

Skills Needed: Experience collecting history, going over core vs. lifestyle vaccines, going over preventatives and proficiency with restraint. Proficiency in blood draws, and vaccine administration is highly preferred.

What You'll Bring to the Team
  • A High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • A calm and efficient approach, with the ability to handle a fast‑paced and sometimes stressful environment with composure.
  • Confidence and skill in handling pets of all sizes and temperaments.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in fundamental veterinary skills ranging from laboratory and pharmacy to nursing and radiology is a strong asset.
