Job summary

New River Animal Hospital in Nimitz, WV is seeking a compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our hands-on, patient-care team on a Monday–Friday schedule with no weekends.

No weekends, full-time, compensation $14–$18 per hour based on experience. You will assist veterinarians, restrain dogs and cats, prepare rooms, and support hospital operations.

Qualifications

• Previous veterinary, kennel, animal care, or healthcare experience is required.
• Comfortable working with both dogs and cats.
• Willingness to learn new skills and take direction.
• Dependable and able to work well as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and good customer-service skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians and veterinary team members during appointments and procedures.
• Safely restrain and handle dogs and cats for examinations and treatments.
• Prepare exam rooms and treatment areas for patients.
• Assist with routine patient care and monitoring.
• Help collect and prepare laboratory samples as directed.
• Assist with diagnostic procedures and treatments.
• Prepare patients and supplies for surgical and dental procedures.
• Clean, disinfect, and maintain exam rooms, kennels, treatment areas, and equipment.
• Feed, walk, monitor, and provide comfort to hospitalized or recovering patients.
• Stock medical and hospital supplies.
• Maintain accurate patient information and communicate important observations to the veterinary team.
• Help clients feel welcomed and supported throughout their pet's visit.

What You'll Do
