Job summary

North Gateway Animal Hospital in West Virginia is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our growing practice. The primary location will be North Gateway, with opportunities at Gateway Animal Hospital in Saint Albans, WV.

You will assist with patient restraint, triage, lab work, radiographs, anesthesia, meds, and client communication. Two WV locations and rotating Saturdays (closed Sundays) offer ongoing training, development, and a supportive team environment.

Qualifications

• An experienced Veterinary Assistant with a minimum of 1-year experience preferred.
• Compassionate and calm team-player.
• Ability to multi-task.
• Must be able to properly restrain pets.
• Proficient in sample collection, obtaining medical histories, processing laboratory tests and radiographs, andanesthesia monitoring are a bonus!
• Self-starter with the desire to continue to advance your knowledge and skillset.

Responsibilities

• Pet restraint, triage incoming patients, collection and analysis of lab samples, diagnostic imaging, management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability, administration of medications, effective communication of treatment plans with clients, surgical preparation and assistance, and anesthetic management.

Our establishment offers preventive care, wellness exams, internal medicine, pet surgery, radiology consults, and dental surgery. In addition to our customary services, Gateway Animal Hospital is expanding our practice range to include home visits and farm calls, ensuring our commitment to providing compassionate pet care everywhere. • General Practice/Small Animal clinic with some large animal
• 3-DVM clinic with dedicated support staff
• Rotating Saturdays and closed Sundays

North Gateway will be the primary location for this position; however, candidates may also be considered for opportunities at our Gateway Animal Hospital location at 55 MacCorkle Avenue, Saint Albans, WV 25177.

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

Pet restraint, triage incoming patients, collection and analysis of lab samples, diagnostic imaging, management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability, administration of medications, effective communication of treatment plans with clients, surgical preparation and assistance, and anesthetic management.

Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises. May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste and potentially contagious diseases.
