Job summary

Montville Veterinary Group in New Jersey is seeking a motivated individual to join our busy companion animal practice. You will assist with patient care, monitor hospitalized pets, restrain animals during exams, and help with routine diagnostic tests under veterinary supervision.

Base hourly rate $18-$22 based on experience. Full-time benefits include health insurance, 401(k) retirement, family pet care discounts, and paid vacation/holidays.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years old or older.
• Prefer 1+ years of experience, but willing to train the right individual.
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the job: lift 40 lbs., restrain animals, and stand for extended periods.
• Works well in a hospital team and supports staff at all levels.

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient care and treatment.

• Maintain inventory and stocking.
• Restrain animals during exams, blood draws, and nail trims.
• Perform routine diagnostic tasks (radiographs, bloodwork, etc.).
• Sterilize surgical instruments and equipment.
• Clean/disinfect cages, kennels, and treatment areas.
• Administer medications under supervision.
• Feed/bathe animals and handle client communications.
• Answer phones and provide customer service.

Job Description Overview

• Assist with patient care and treatment
• Monitor hospitalized pets / Monitor/aid in caring for animals after surgery
• Maintain inventory and stocking
• Restrain animals during physical exam, blood draws, and nail trims
• Aiding with routine diagnostic tests (i.e. Taking radiographs, running bloodwork, etc.)
• Maintain & sterilize surgical instruments/equipment
• Clean/Disinfect cages, kennels, exam and treatment areas of hospital
• Administering medications under Veterinarian/Vet Tech supervision
• Feeding/bathing animals
• Answering phones
• Customer service
• Helping clients with their pets

Qualifications

• Must be 18yrs old or older
• Must be a self-starter, able to multitask and a team player.
• Genuinely enjoys working with animals and is able to deal with them even when they are stressed, ill or in pain.
• Prefer 1+ years of experience, but willing to train the right individual.
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the job. Work requires lifting, carrying and restraining animals (will be assisted by other staff members in lifting animals over 40 lbs.). Should be able to lift 40lbs on own.
• Walks or stands for extended periods or time; frequently works in a bent or squatting position.
• Is experienced in the teamwork approach and works well with all levels of hospital team members.

Compensation

Base hourly rate of $18-$22 based on experience
