Looking for a role where you can use both your customer service skills and your passion for hands‑on veterinary care?

Plantation Animal Clinic in Louisville, Kentucky, is a growing four‑doctor small animal practice looking for a versatile Veterinary Assistant/Receptionist to join our team. We recently expanded our hospital with two additional exam rooms, a new treatment area, a dedicated dental space, and a procedure area — giving our team more room to do what we do best: provide excellent medicine and compassionate service.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety. One moment you may be helping a client understand a doctor's recommendations, and the next you may be assisting with animal handling during an exam. If you enjoy working with both people and pets and want to be part of a team that truly supports one another, we'd love to meet you.

Why You'll Love It Here
  • Join a busy, growing four‑doctor small animal practice
  • Work in an expanded hospital with additional exam, treatment, dental, and procedure spaces
  • Use both your client service and hands‑on veterinary skills every day
  • Enjoy a predictable schedule with two full‑time scheduling options
  • Get dedicated lunch breaks built into your day
  • Work no nights, Sundays, or holidays
  • Rotate Saturdays only, with the hospital closing at noon
  • Receive a dedicated half‑day off during weeks when you work Saturday
  • Work with a team that genuinely learns from and helps one another
  • Be part of a "better together" culture where wins are shared and challenges are tackled as a team
  • Grow your veterinary knowledge through mentorship and professional development
  • Make a meaningful impact on both patient care and the client experience
What You'll Do
  • Welcome clients and patients with warmth, professionalism, and compassion
  • Assist veterinarians during exams and routine patient care
  • Safely and confidently handle and restrain patients
  • Support doctors and technicians during treatments and procedures
  • Help prepare exam and treatment areas for patient care
  • Communicate clearly with clients about doctor recommendations and next steps
  • Help clients understand services, treatment plans, estimates, and hospital policies
  • Answer phones and assist with scheduling and client questions
  • Check patients in and out for appointments
  • Maintain accurate client and patient information
  • Process payments and assist with basic administrative responsibilities
  • Support patient flow throughout the hospital
  • Help maintain clean, organized, and well‑stocked work areas
  • Collaborate with teammates across reception and clinical areas
  • Provide compassionate support during routine and stressful situations
  • Jump in wherever needed to help the hospital run smoothly
What You'll Bring
  • Previous veterinary assistant, veterinary receptionist, or customer service experience is preferred
  • A genuine interest in both client service and hands‑on animal care
  • Confidence handling pets or a willingness to learn
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • A positive, dependable, and team‑focused attitude
  • The ability to explain information clearly and professionally to clients
  • Strong organizational and time‑management skills
  • The ability to multitask in a busy veterinary environment
  • Comfort switching between reception and clinical responsibilities
  • A willingness to learn new skills and grow professionally
  • Compassion for patients and the people who care for them
  • Flexibility and a willingness to support teammates regardless of role

The Extras You'll Actually Feel

At Plantation Animal Clinic, teamwork is more than a phrase — it's how we work every day. Everyone supports one another, regardless of job title, and we believe that the best patient care happens when the entire team communicates, collaborates, and shares responsibility.

We also understand that predictable scheduling matters. That's why we offer two scheduling options designed to create consistency and support life outside of work.

Schedule Option One: Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m.–5:30 p.m., with a dedicated lunch break. During weeks when you work Saturday, you'll have Wednesday morning off.

Schedule Option Two: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:30 p.m., with Tuesdays off and a dedicated lunch break. During weeks when you work Saturday, you'll have Wednesday morning off.

Saturday shifts rotate, and the hospital closes at noon, leaving plenty of time to enjoy the rest of your weekend. We do not work nights, Sundays, or holidays.

Whether you're helping hold a patient, assisting a doctor, answering a client question, or helping someone navigate a treatment recommendation, your contribution matters here. We want you to have the opportunity to use your strengths, continue learning, and feel like a valued part of the team.
