Responsibilities

• Safely restrain dogs and cats for examinations and procedures.
• Assist veterinarians during wellness visits, diagnostics, treatments, and surgeries.
• Prepare exam rooms and treatment areas for appointments.
• Maintain clean, organized, and stocked patient-care areas.
• Observe patients and monitor vital signs as directed by the medical team.
• Maintain medical records and enter patient notes accurately.

What Our Veterinary Assistants Do

• Safely and gently restrain dogs and cats for examinations, treatments, and procedures
• Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians during wellness visits, diagnostics, treatments, and surgeries
• Prepare exam rooms and treatment areas for appointments and procedures
• Maintain clean, organized, and properly stocked patient-care areas
• Clean, prepare, and sterilize surgical instruments
• Care for hospitalized and boarding patients, including feeding, walking, and monitoring their comfort and behavior
• Observe patients and monitor vital signs as directed by the medical team
• Maintain medical records and enter patient notes accurately
• Prepare medications under veterinarian supervision
• Communicate clearly and compassionately with pet parents regarding home care, medication schedules, and appointment follow-up
• Work closely with veterinarians, technicians, and fellow support team members to keep the hospital running smoothly
• Help create a safe, low-stress experience for every patient in our care
