Heart + Paw in the United States is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and technicians during exams and procedures, monitor patient comfort, and assist with radiographs and anesthesia monitoring.

This role emphasizes low-stress handling, client communication, and teamwork. You will educate pet parents, maintain records, and help keep a clean, efficient center.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years in a clinical veterinary setting
• Fear Free or HABRI certification (or willingness to obtain)
• Strong client communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to lift 20+ lbs and work in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

• Assisting veterinarians and technicians during routine exams and surgical procedures
• Monitoring and caring for pets to ensure comfort and safety
• Collecting samples and performing diagnostics under supervision
• Administering prescribed medications, vaccines, and treatments
• Recording and maintaining patient medical history and inventory logs
• Preparing rooms for appointments and surgery
• Educating pet parents on preventive care, nutrition, and behavior
• Supporting low-stress handling practices during interactions
• Assisting with radiographs, dental procedures, and anesthesia monitoring
• Maintaining a clean, disease-free environment throughout the center
