Compensation

Hourly rate: $15.19 – $19.41, depending on experience, skill level, education, and location.

Job Summary

The Veterinary Assistant is a key member of the hospital team who supports the veterinarians and veterinary technicians, ensuring the safety of pets, clients, and associates while maintaining the continuity of high‑quality veterinary care.

Responsibilities
  • Provide professional, efficient, and exceptional service, ensuring all clients and pets feel comfortable in the hospital.
  • Use technical skills daily in accordance with state practice acts and NAVTA guidelines for veterinary assistant duties.
  • Maintain the flow of patients through the facility.
  • Communicate effectively with veterinarians and vet techs.
  • Carry out or set up procedures that do not require veterinarian or vet tech assistance.
  • Adhere to hospital standards, keeping treatment areas, exam rooms, and labs clean and organized.
  • Educate clients about Optimum Wellness Plans and the importance of preventive care.
  • Mentor other members of the hospital team.
Preferred Education and Licenses
  • Certificate of completion from a NAVTA‑approved veterinary assistant program or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Preferred Experience
  • Demonstrated ability to perform all required skills of a NAVTA‑approved veterinary assistant program at a level that enhances practice efficiency.
