We were founded in 2001 and currently have 6 Doctors and 26 support staff. We are a dog and cat only, general practice with a strong interest in canine theriogenology. We offer surgery, dentistry, diagnostics, imaging, preventive wellness, hospitalization, boarding, daycare, as well as reproductive services. We are located in a growing area south of Jacksonville, FL near the St Johns River.

We are seeking a Veterinary Assistant to join our growing hospital to provide exceptional care to our patients. You will work alongside other skilled Vet Assistants, support our Credentialed Veterinary Technicians and DVMs in the daily flow of the hospital. Position Skills

• Assist DVMs and credentialed veterinary technicians with appointments, prepping patients for surgery and minor procedures, surgical assisting, and setting up for procedures or diagnostic tests
• Restrain animals in a safe, efficient, and caring manner
• Obtain accurate vitals, medical histories, and note any changes of patient’s condition to DVM
• Collect and prepare laboratory samples such as fecal, urine, and ear cytologies
• Maintain all medical equipment including laboratory machines, surgical packs, anesthesia machines, and other essential tools
• Communicate effectively with clients regarding patient updates and questions

Position Requirements

• High School diploma or GED certificate
• Flexible schedule including some weekend and holiday shifts
• Knowledge of medical procedures and animal handling
• Strong communication skills, good judgment, ability to work under stress, and team collaboration
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

Pay range of $18.00-$22.00/hour based on experience.
