Job Overview

The Veterinary Assistant (Vet Assistant) is a key member of the Banfield Pet Hospital team who supports veterinarians and veterinary technicians, ensuring the safety of pets, clients, and colleagues while maintaining the continuity of high‑quality veterinary care.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional, efficient, and exceptional service to clients and pets.
• Maintain the flow of patients throughout the hospital.
• Communicate effectively with veterinarians and vet technicians.
• Carry out or set up procedures that do not require a veterinarian or vet technician.
• Adhere to hospital standards that keep pets safe and maintain clean and organized treatment areas, exam rooms, and labs.
• Educate clients about the Optimum Wellness Plans and the importance of preventive care.
• Mentor other members of the hospital team.

Qualifications

• Certificate of completion from a NAVTA‑approved veterinary assistant program or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to perform all required skills of a NAVTA‑approved veterinary assistant program and to assist the efficiency of the practice.
• Action‑oriented, customer focused, good listener, effective communicator, and who cares for those who care.

Compensation

Pay range: $18.40 – $23.51 per hour. The specific rate will be determined by candidate experience, skill level, education, and location.
