Job summary

Animal Health Care Denver is seeking a full-time Veterinary Assistant to work with a team of veterinarians, technicians, and support staff. You will help ensure excellent patient care and client service in a busy clinic.

The role offers benefits including medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with company match, PTO, and employee pet discounts. Scheduled shifts are 7:30a-5:30p or 8a-6p Mon-Fri with Saturdays 8:30-5; no evenings or weekend hours.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of veterinary experience.

• Ability to handle animals safely and compassionately.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians and vet techs during examinations, treatments, and surgeries.
• Handle and restrain animals safely and compassionately.
• Prepare examination rooms and surgical areas by cleaning and sterilizing equipment.
• Perform basic lab tests and collect samples (blood, urine, stool).
• Administer medications and vaccinations under supervision.
• Maintain medical records and communicate with pet owners.
• Keep clinic clean and stocked, ensuring a safe environment.

Salary: $22.00 - $24.00 per hour, determined by the candidate’s skills, experience, and qualifications.

Schedule: Open availability needed. Shifts will be 7:30a-5:30p or 8a-6p M-F and 8:30-5 on Saturdays. 4x10 hour shifts. Need to be able to work two Saturdays a month - rotating schedule

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist veterinarians and vet techs during examinations, treatments, and surgeries.
• Handle and restrain animals safely and compassionately
• Prepare examination rooms and surgical areas by cleaning and sterilizing equipment and surfaces
• Perform basic laboratory tests, such as collecting blood, urine, and stool samples
• Administer medications and vaccinations under the supervision of a veterinarian
• Feed, bathe, and exercise animals as needed
• Maintain accurate medical records
• Communicate with pet owners about their pets’ care, treatment plans, and follow-up visits
• Clean and maintain the clinic, including stocking supplies and ensuring a safe and sanitary environment

Qualifications:

• At least 1 year of veterinary experience.
• Technical know-how in areas such as disinfection, administering medication, and using diagnostic equipment.
• Physical ability to handle animals safely and compassionately.
