Job summary

5280 Veterinary Care in Denver seeks an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join a collaborative, fast-paced team providing gold‑standard care for pets.

Responsibilities include assisting veterinarians and technicians, restraining patients, preparing rooms, collecting samples, administering meds, taking radiographs, and educating clients. A positive attitude and commitment to learning are essential.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of recent veterinary assistant experience (required).
  • Experience assisting veterinarians and veterinary technicians with dental procedures is required, including dental radiography, ultrasonic scaling, polishing, and dental workflow.
  • Strong patient handling and restraint skills.
  • Experience with laboratory sample collection, diagnostic radiology, medication administration, anesthesia monitoring, and surgical assistance.

  • Safely and compassionately restrain patients for examinations and procedures.
  • Prepare exam rooms and surgical suites while maintaining cleanliness and sterilization standards.
  • Collect laboratory samples including blood, urine, and fecal specimens.
  • Administer medications and vaccines under veterinarian supervision.
  • Take and process diagnostic radiographs.
  • Maintain accurate and thorough medical records.
  • Educate clients on treatments, medications, and follow-up care.
  • Monitor hospitalized patients and communicate changes to the medical team.
  • Help maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked hospital.
  • Work collaboratively to create a positive experience for clients and patients.

At 5280 Veterinary Care, we're looking for an experienced Veterinary Assistant who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and genuinely enjoys building relationships with patients, clients, and teammates. What You Can Expect

Compensation
  • $23–$25/hour, depending on experience and skill set
Schedule
  • Four 10-hour shifts each week
  • One rotating late shift each week (9:30 AM–8:30 PM)
  • Rotating Saturdays (every other Saturday)

What You'll Do

What We're Looking For
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent veterinary assistant experience (required)
  • Recent, hands‑on experience assisting veterinarians and veterinary technicians with dental procedures is required, including dental radiography, ultrasonic scaling, polishing, and maintaining proper dental workflow.
  • Strong patient handling and restraint skills.
  • Experience with laboratory sample collection, diagnostic radiology, medication administration, anesthesia monitoring, and surgical assistance.
  • Excellent communication and client service skills.
  • Ability to multitask while maintaining accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
  • A personal and professional commitment to providing gold‑standard patient care, with exceptional attention to detail in every aspect of your work.
