Job summary

Glenway Animal Hospital is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our team in Cincinnati. The role involves restraining pets, triage, collecting and analyzing lab samples, and assisting with diagnostic imaging and anesthesia management.

Strong communication with clients and team is essential. Responsibilities include nursing care for medical and hospitalized cases, administering medications, and supporting surgical prep and anesthesia.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1-year veterinary assistant experience preferred.
• Compassionate, calm, team player, multi-tasker and strong communicator.
• Must be able to properly restrain pets.
• Proficient in sample collection, obtaining medical histories, processing laboratory tests and radiographs, and anesthesia monitoring are a bonus.
• Self-starter with desire to continue to grow knowledge and skills.

Responsibilities

Our hospital is equipped to provide comprehensive wellness services to care for our client’s pets complete health care needs. Along with cats and dogs, Glenway Animal Hospital treats pocket pets, which include: rabbits, ferrets, guinea pigs, hamsters, gerbils, chinchillas, and rats.

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

Pet restraint, triage incoming patients, collection and analysis of lab samples, diagnostic imaging, management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability, administration of medications, effective communication of treatment plans with clients, surgical preparation and assistance, and anesthetic management.

Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises. May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste and potentially contagious diseases.

We’re looking for:

• An experienced Veterinary Assistant with a minimum of 1-year experience preferred.

Pay Range: $15-$16/hr
