Job summary

Kersting Veterinary Hospital in Chesterfield, MO is seeking a Veterinary Assistant with at least 1 year of experience. You will assist with patient restraint, triage, sample collection, and provide nursing care and medical management under the supervision of veterinarians and technicians.

The role involves radiography, communication of treatment plans to clients, anesthesia monitoring, and ongoing learning through hands-on and virtual training.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Veterinary Assistant with 1+ year preferred.
• Able to restrain pets properly and communicate with clients.
• Comfort with sample collection, history taking, lab processing, radiographs; anesthesia monitoring is a bonus.

Responsibilities

• Restrain and triage incoming patients; collect and analyze lab samples.
• Perform radiographs and assist with surgical preparation and anesthesia as needed.

Kersting Veterinary Hospital is a well-established, progressive, fast paced, multi-doctor, small animal/avian/small mammal practice located in Chesterfield, MO. We offer many services to provide the best comprehensive care to our patients including Preventive Care, Surgery, In house Diagnostics, Digital full body and dental radiology, and vacation boarding and more.

Job Description

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

Pet restraint, triage incoming patients, collection and analysis of lab samples, diagnostic imaging, management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability, administration of medications, effective communication of treatment plans with clients, surgical preparation and assistance, and anesthetic management.

Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises. May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste and potentially contagious diseases.

Qualifications

We’re looking for:

• An experienced Veterinary Assistantwith a minimum of 1-year experience preferred.
• Compassionate, Calm, Team Player, Multi-Tasker and Strong Communicator
• Must be able to properly restrain pets.
• Proficient in sample collection, obtaining medical histories, processing laboratory tests and radiographs, andanesthesia monitoring are a bonus!
• Self-starter with the desire to continue to advance your knowledge and skillset.
