Job summary

Kersting Veterinary Hospital in Chesterfield, MO is seeking a Registered Veterinary Technician to join our team. We provide care for dogs, cats and exotic pets with advanced diagnostic imaging, dentistry, preventative care and emergency services.

We value compassionate client communication, accurate medical record management, and teamwork in a fast-paced hospital. A license is required, with 1+ year experience preferred; exotics experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Registered Veterinary Technician with active license is required.
• 1+ year professional experience preferred.
• Exotics experience is a plus.
• Excellent client communication and medical record management skills.
• Comprehensive knowledge of veterinary procedures and hospital operations.
• Ability to perform safe animal restraint and radiographic positioning.

Responsibilities

• Animal restraint, triage of incoming patients, collection and analysis of lab samples, diagnostic imaging, nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases.
• Administration of medications, communication of treatment plans with clients, surgical preparation and assistance, anesthetic management.
• Maintain professional ethics and safety in a fast-paced veterinary setting.

We offer a range of services fordogs, cats, and exotic pets- including dental care, preventative medicine, and emergency services. We are equipped to handle a variety of medical conditions and injuries, from routine check-ups to complex surgeries. We understand that exotic pets require specialized care and attention. That’s why we take the time to get to know each and every one of our patients and work closely with their owners to ensure that they receive the best possible care!

Our team has extensive experience in diagnosing and treating a wide variety of avian species, from parrots and cockatiels to raptors and waterfowl. We use the latest technology and medical techniques to ensure that our feathered patients receive the best possible care.

Our hours of operation are:

• Mon-Fri: 7:30AM - 6PM
• Sat: 7:30AM - 2PM
• We are closed on Sundays

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

Animal restraint, triage of incoming patients, collection and analysis of lab samples, diagnostic imaging, management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability, administration of medications, effective communication of treatment plans with clients, surgical preparation and assistance, and anesthetic management.

Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises. May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste and potentially contagious diseases.

We’re looking for:

• A Registered Veterinary Technician with an active licenserequired, 1+ year professional experience preferred but not required
• Consistent punctuality and reliability in adherence to scheduled shifts
• Availability to work Saturdays
• Experience with Exotics is a plus!
• Excellent client communication and medical record management skills
• Comprehensive knowledge of veterinary procedures, preventative care, and hospital operations
• Expertise in safe and low-stress animal restraint techniques
• Proficiency in various sample collection methods, including blood, urine, fecal, and skin specimens
• Experience in radiographic positioning and image capture, with additional skills in dental radiography being a plus
• Experience in anesthesia administration and surgical monitoring
• Commitment to professional ethics and continuous learning
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with exposure to animal-related hazards

**$1500 Sign-On Bonus Available**

Pay Range:$20/hr + dependent on experience level
