Qualifications

The starting pay rate for this position is $19.00 per hour, depending on experience, education, licensure, and certifications.

We are a busy, small animal general practice with three doctors looking for a full-time veterinary assistant to help enhance our partnership with our clients and patients. You will help create lifelong relationships with our patients so we can provide trusted, personalized care. You will be expected to learn to restrain during examinations and treatments, maintain hospital cleanliness, prepare laboratory samples, administer medications and immunizations, and so much more!

Requirements:

  • 2+ years of veterinary experience
  • Must be able to type 40 wpm
  • Experience with Cornerstone (highly preferred)
  • Experience with proper animal handling and restraint
  • Knowledge of industry tools and equipment
  • Knowledge of medications and vaccines
  • Obtaining accurate and thorough medical histories
  • Blood draws (cephalic, saphenous, and jugular)
  • Laboratory skills such as ear and cytology, HM5, Vetscan, Sedivue
  • Applicants should be able to physically stand for long hours and lift to 35 lbs.
  • Must be able to work 9-hour weekday shifts with 1-hour unpaid lunch and 5+ hour shifts on Saturdays.

Qualifications

E xperience as a veterinary technician or assistant .

Strong animal handling skills and knowledge of clinical procedures .

Excellent communication and teamwork skills .

Veterinary Technician Certification (CVT, RVT, or LVT) preferred – or eligibility to obtain licensure based on state requirements.

A degree from an AVMA-accredited Veterinary Technology program is preferred but not required .

Responsibilities
