The hourly pay rate for this position is $18.00 - $25.00, depending on experience, education, licensure, and certifications.

Join our incredible team at Veterinary Medical Center of Woodland Hills as the next step in your career. We are looking to add a full-time Veterinary Assistant to our team. The ideal candidate will be a motivated, detail-oriented team player who loves animals and is part of a supportive environment. Responsibilities include rooming patients, learning and expanding skills, handling equipment, drawing blood, running bloodwork, x-ray positioning, animal handling and restraint, client education, and being a positive team member.

Veterinary Medical Center of Woodland Hills is a long-standing general practice hospital with deep community ties, located in Woodland Hills, California. Our goal is to provide compassionate, quality medicine and treat our patients and clients like family. We aim to offer sound, honest pet care options and excellent medical service in a friendly, professional environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience as a veterinary technician or assistant.
  • Strong animal handling skills and knowledge of clinical procedures.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Veterinary Technician Certification (CVT, RVT, or LVT) preferred or eligibility to obtain licensure.
  • Degree from an AVMA-accredited Veterinary Technology program preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist veterinarians with exams, treatments, and surgeries.
  • Handle and restrain animals safely; administer medications and vaccines.
  • Collect lab samples and maintain accurate records.
  • Educate clients on pet care and keep the work environment clean and organized.

Additional Duties

  • Attend departmental and staff meetings.
  • Assist with appointments and call-backs.
  • Keep the treatment area clean and stocked.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • HS diploma or equivalent.
  • At least one year of recent veterinary or medical experience.
  • Ability to restrain patients properly.
  • Knowledge of veterinary terminology and procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently.
  • Empathy towards clients and compassionate animal care.
  • Commitment to excellent client service.
  • Ability to lift objects up to 40 pounds and more with assistance.
  • Work energetic shifts, sometimes exceeding 10 hours.
