Fairview Animal Hospital in Ellenwood, Georgia is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to join our small animal practice. You will perform restraint, triage, lab sample collection and analysis, imaging, medication administration, and client communications.

Responsibilities include surgical preparation, anesthesia monitoring, and nursing care for hospitalized patients. We value compassionate, team‑oriented individuals who can multi‑task in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 1 year veterinary assistant experience preferred.
• Compassionate, calm, team player, multi-tasker and strong communicator.
• Must be able to properly restrain pets.
• Proficient in sample collection, obtaining medical histories, processing laboratory tests and radiographs; anesthesia monitoring is a bonus.
• Self-starter with desire to advance knowledge and skillset.

Responsibilities

• Restrain pets during exams and procedures.
• Triage incoming patients and assist with nursing care.
• Collect and analyze lab samples; perform basic diagnostics.
• Assist with diagnostic imaging and radiographs.
• Administer medications and communicate treatment plans to clients.
• Prepare for and assist in surgeries; monitor anesthesia.

Job Description

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

Pet restraint, triage incoming patients, collection and analysis of lab samples, diagnostic imaging, management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability, administration of medications, effective communication of treatment plans with clients, surgical preparation and assistance, and anesthetic management.

Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises. May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste and potentially contagious diseases.

Qualifications

We’re looking for:

• An experienced Veterinary Assistant with a minimum of 1-year experience preferred.
