Fairview Animal Hospital in Ellenwood, GA, just south of Atlanta, is seeking a veterinary assistant to join a collaborative team. You will assist doctors with a range of patient-care duties, including intake, restraint, nursing care, imaging, and anesthesia support.

The role emphasizes compassionate patient care, ongoing skill development, and clear client communication in a busy hospital setting. This is a full-time position with weekend-coverage considerations.

Qualifications

• At least one year of veterinary experience preferred.
• Experience with restraint, sample collection, and medical histories is a plus.
• Familiarity with lab work, radiographs, surgical assistance or anesthesia monitoring is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Safely handle and restrain dogs and cats.
• Assist with patient intake and triage.
• Obtain and document medical histories.
• Collect and process laboratory samples.
• Assist with diagnostic imaging and radiographs.
• Provide nursing care for hospitalized patients.

Fairview Animal Hospital is a well-established, progressive small animal practice in Ellenwood, Georgia, just south of Atlanta. Our hospital provides comprehensive veterinary care, including preventative care, internal medicine, surgery, laser therapy, in-house diagnostics, high-speed dentistry, digital full-body and dental radiology, ultrasonography, and vacation boarding.

Job Description

As a veterinary assistant, you’ll support our doctors and hospital team throughout the patient-care process. Your day may include:

• Safely handling and restraining dogs and cats
• Assisting with patient intake and triage
• Obtaining and documenting medical histories
• Collecting and processing laboratory samples
• Assisting with diagnostic imaging and radiographs
• Providing nursing care for hospitalized patients with varying levels of stability
• Administering medications as directed
• Preparing patients for surgery and assisting during procedures
• Supporting anesthesia monitoring and patient recovery
• Communicating treatment plans and recommendations clearly with clients
• Keeping treatment and patient-care areas clean, organized, and ready for the next patient

A successful veterinary assistant is comfortable multitasking, communicating with both clients and coworkers, and stepping in wherever help is needed. You’ll have the opportunity to work with a variety of cases and gain experience across multiple areas of veterinary medicine.

Qualifications

We’re seeking a veterinary assistant with at least one year of veterinary experience preferred. Experience with animal restraint, sample collection, medical histories, laboratory testing, radiographs, surgical assistance, or anesthesia monitoring is a plus.

Additional Information

Pay Range: $14 to $18 per hour

Schedule: Full-time| Monday-Friday, closed weekends
