Veterinary Assistant
Location: Banfield Pet Hospital
Job Summary
The Veterinary Assistant is a key member of the hospital team who supports the veterinarians and veterinary technicians, ensuring the safety of pets, clients and associates while maintaining the continuity of quality veterinary care.
Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians in all care activities.
- Help maintain flow of patients through the facility.
- Communicate effectively with the veterinarian, vet techs and clients.
- Carry out or set up procedures that do not require vet tech or veterinarian assistance.
- Adhere to hospital standards to keep pets safe and treatment areas, exam rooms and labs clean and organized.
- Educate clients about wellness plans and the importance of preventive care.
- Mentor other members of the hospital team.
Qualifications
- Preferred: Certificate of completion from a NAVTA‑approved veterinary assistant program or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Must be able to perform all required skills of a NAVTA‑approved program at a level that aids in the efficiency of the practice.
Preferred Education & Licenses
- Certificate from a NAVTA‑approved veterinary assistant program.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Experience
- Experience performing veterinary assistant duties at a level that enhances practice efficiency.
