Job summary

Qualifications

  • Must have formal veterinary technology education and credentials (AVMA-accredited program preferred).
  • Experience with veterinary anesthesia and analgesia, including pre-anesthetic assessment, induction, maintenance, and recovery for various species.
  • Proficiency in monitoring techniques (ECG, BP, pulse oximetry, capnography) and recognizing abnormalities.
  • Knowledge of pharmacology for anesthetic drugs, analgesics, sedatives, and emergency meds.

Responsibilities

  • Perform pre-anesthetic evaluations and prepare equipment.
  • Induce and maintain anesthesia and monitor during surgery.
  • Record anesthesia data accurately and ensure infection-control protocols.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot anesthesia machines and monitors.
  • Collaborate with veterinarians, students, and staff in a teaching hospital setting.
  • Demonstrate best practices and contribute to patient safety and care.
