Job summary

Allied Veterinary Specialists in South Daytona, FL, seeks an experienced Anesthesia Surgery Veterinary Technician to support the surgical team in a high‑caliber specialty hospital. You’ll assist with anesthesia induction, monitoring, recovery, patient care, and documentation, while upholding sterile technique and collaborative care.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years veterinary surgical and/or anesthesia experience.
  • Strong veterinary nursing and animal-handling skills.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and position patients for surgical procedures.
  • Place IV catheters and manage fluid therapy.
  • Assist with anesthetic induction, monitoring, and recovery.
  • Provide perioperative and post-operative nursing care.
  • Monitor patient comfort, vital parameters, and anesthesia depth.
  • Maintain accurate anesthesia records and documentation.
  • Prepare instruments, equipment, and operating room.
  • Maintain sterile technique and assist with sterilization.
  • Assist surgeons throughout procedures.
  • Provide clear patient hand-offs between departments.
  • Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, technicians, and nursing team.
  • Triaging and assisting during consultations and reevaluations.

What You’ll Do

As a Anesthesia Surgery Veterinary Technician, you’ll play an essential role throughout the surgical process—from patient preparation and anesthesia to recovery and post-operative nursing care.

Your day may include:

  • Preparing and positioning patients for surgical procedures
  • Placing IV catheters and managing fluid therapy
  • Assisting with anesthetic induction, monitoring, and recovery
  • Providing attentive perioperative and post-operative nursing care
  • Monitoring patient comfort, pain, vital parameters, and anesthetic depth
  • Maintaining accurate anesthesia records and medical documentation
  • Preparing surgical instruments, equipment, and the operating suite
  • Maintaining sterile technique and supporting instrument sterilization
  • Assisting surgeons throughout procedures
  • Providing clear, detailed patient hand-offs between departments
  • Collaborating closely with surgeons, anesthesia providers, technicians, and the broader nursing team
  • Triaging and assisting surgeon during consultations and reevaluations.

What We’re Looking For

Ideally, you have:

  • 3+ years of veterinary surgical and/or anesthesia experience
  • Strong veterinary nursing and animal-handling skills
  • A calm, focused, and detail-oriented approach
  • Confidence working in a fast-paced surgical environment
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • A passion for anesthesia, surgery, and high-quality patient care
  • A desire to continue learning and advancing professionally

Extra points if you have:

  • CVT, LVT, or RVT credentials
  • Specialty hospital experience
  • Advanced anesthesia monitoring experience
  • Experience with ezyVet and/or VetRadar
Current Schedule
  • Monday–Thursday with Periodic Friday shifts

A four-day workweek means more consistency in your schedule — and more days away from the hospital to recharge.
