Job summary

Cape Cod Veterinary Specialists is seeking an experienced Veterinary Anesthesia Nurse to join our Surgery team across Buzzards Bay and Dennis, MA. You’ll support patients from drop-off through anesthesia and recovery, collaborating with surgeons and the anesthesiologist to deliver tailored anesthesia plans.

The role emphasizes monitoring, pain management, and client communication, with opportunities to expand skills and pursue advanced training.

Qualifications

• Two years of anesthesia, surgery, or inpatient nursing experience with hands-on anesthesia responsibilities.
• Proficiency in anesthesia monitoring and knowledge of analgesia and patient safety.
• Clinical judgment to recognize and respond to anesthetic complications.
• Clear, respectful communication with clients and colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Welcome surgical patients at drop-off, review histories and care instructions, and communicate relevant information to the medical team.
• Prepare patients, equipment, and supplies for surgery and anesthesia.
• Carry out individualized anesthetic plans with surgeons and anesthesiologists.
• Induce, monitor, and recover patients under direction.
• Recognize anesthetic changes and respond to concerns.
• Administer treatments and support pain management.
• Prepare and maintain anesthesia equipment.
• Maintain accurate anesthetic records and patient documentation.
• Provide client updates and review discharge instructions.
• Coordinate handoffs and support team training.
