Job summary

Volunteers of America Southeast, Inc. in Birmingham, AL, seeks a Rapid Resolution Specialist for the Supportive Services for Veteran Families program.

The ideal candidate holds a bachelor’s degree in counseling or related field and 2+ years working with homeless individuals, with veteran familiarity preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in counseling psychology, rehabilitative counseling, or related human services field is required.
  • A minimum of two years’ experience working with homeless individuals and families including veterans is preferred.
  • Veteran or member of a veteran family is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide crisis intervention to address the immediate needs of the very low-income, chronic and non-chronic homeless veteran population.
  • Assess the individual's family and community connections to assist in identifying a housing solution that at a minimum can last for ninety days.
  • Evaluate and provide solutions to housing need.
  • Provide mediation, conflict resolution as needed.
  • Provide client access to on-going resources to support continued stability.
  • Facilitate the move to housing option identified.
  • Complete all appropriate reporting in HMIS and other systems as required.
